DISCOVERY EVENT
In February 2022, five out of the six members of our DofE 2021 team attended a SOWA discovery event the New Forest in Hampshire with other like minded individuals. We made some great friends along the way and this is the first step to completing our Scouts of the World Award's - I'm still trying to decide on a project but hopefully there is more to come on this soon.
After 2 years of focusing on other things, in January 2024 I went back for more! I have now decided to take a trip to The Gambia with the goal of trying to complete my Scout of the World Award. I attended another SOWA discovery event, learned more about the award and still intend to complete it. We're going to be building on a Scout compound in the country to try and promote Scouting and make it a community facility.
GAMBIA 24
In July/August 2024 I spent 2 weeks in the wonderful country, The Gambia. We built a kitchen, fixed their electricity/water, painted everything we could, taught them new things like First Aid, dealing with period poverty and how to be more eco friendly, explored the country and most importantantly made friends and memories.
